A Centre of Excellence for Sea Kayak Instruction
You won’t find a better place to learn to sea kayak! Sheltered, flatwater, three-knot current, wilderness paddling and Lake Superior’s finest surf zone—beginner to advanced sea kayakers will love our Lake Superior Paddling Centre. It could be the reason we’ve attracted some of Canada’s finest instructors, including Doug Alderson, Michael Pardy and Serge Savard, to teach our courses.
We offer a series of sea kayak skills instruction courses and certified Paddle Canada/ORCKA sea kayak instructor courses. With each skills course you receive a participants’ notebook and the option of being assessed for Paddle Canada/ORCKA sea kayak skills awards.
Sea Kayak Skills 1 : A comprehensive weekend-long introduction to sea kayaking and day tripping. Paddle Canada Level I certification is available.
Sea Kayak Skills 2 : A four-day course for intermediate paddlers looking to refine their skills and embark on wilderness camping trips. Paddle Canada Level II certification is available.
Sea Kayak Skills 3 : A five-day course for advanced paddlers. This course contains a leadership component and plenty of theoretical material for expedition sea kayakers. Paddle Canada Level III certification is available.
Paddle Canada Flatwater/Level I Instructor : Instructor-training for those looking to organze and run Paddle Canada Flatwater and Level I skills courses.
