Sea kayak Lake Superior’s most spectacular shores

NEW FOR 2008: Naturally Superior Adventures' wilderness trips become part of The Big One.

Wilderness trips are designed for those with some sea kayaking experience. If you’ve participated on one of our other trips or have taken a sea kayak lessons and are comfortable in 15-knot winds and two- to three-foot waves, then you’re ready for our wilderness trips.

Wilderness trips include gourmet guide-prepared meals, cooking gear, expedition first aid kits and safety equipment. The only things not included are sea kayaks and tents. You can bring your own or rent them from us at a discounted rate. We reserve a number of single and double rental boats, as well as tents, for wilderness trips.

Sibley to Rossport : One of Lake Superior's finest sea kayaking destinations: A challenging 125-kilometre-long island-to-island route through a proposed National Marine Conservation Area. Several "wilderness saunas" add to the allure of this trip.

Slate and Pic Islands: Woodland caribou sightings are guaranteed on this unique trip. We'll charter a boat to the Slate Islands, spend a few days there, then take another boat shuttle to spectacular Neys Provincial Park, where Group of Seven artist Lawren Harris created some of his most powerful paintings. A moderately demanding 90-kilometre-long trip.

Pukaskwa National Park: The quintessential Lake Superior sea kayak trip. Remote wilderness, unspoiled beaches, stalwart headlands and lots of cultural history. This trip has it all, including the potential for hiking (or just relaxing in the sun). A moderately demanding 90-kilometre-long trip.

Lake Superior Highlands: Sea kayak Lake Superior's forgotten coast. This 90-kilometre-long, moderately demanding and totally isolated route includes the specular cliffs of Point Isacor and a day hike to awe-inspiring Denison Falls.

Pukaskwa Ultimate: Combining seven days in Pukaskwa and seven days along the Superior Highlands gives you Lake Superior's ultimate wilderness sea kayak trip. The trip schedule allows for lots of down time for hiking, beachcombing and relaxing.

Michipicoten Island: Circumnavigate Superior's mythical Michipicoten Island. This 70-kilometre-long sea kayak trip includes two tug shuttles and spectacular wilderness paddling on one of Lake Superior's most remote and culturally significant islands.

We cannot get over how friendly and hospitable the whole staff was. You certainly have a great crew!
