Course Description
The purpose of this course is help ensure you are proficient as a Voyageur Canoe paddler and/or Day-Trip leader. You’ll get first hand experience paddling, leading and steering a 36 ft Voyageur Canoe. Additionally where time and experience permit we’ll cover skills/theory on leadership of Voyageur Canoes on overnight trips on larger water bodies of water.
Certifications available to successful candidates include the Ontario Recreational Canoe and Kayak Association (ORCKA) level 2 & 3a skills.

General Content Information
Provides for the skills particular to paddling in traditional Canadian Voyageur Canoes; large canoes paddled by more than 2 people, often in ‘open water’ situations and requiring teamwork, with distinct roles for the different paddlers and special safety, wilderness tripping, and day-tripping considerations.
