Paddling Criteria

To help you gauge where your paddling level is we’ve written a description about the different skill levels.

Novice: Have never been kayaking before or have been only been once or twice.  You will enjoy your trip more if you are somewhat fit and have had previous camping experience before.

Novice/Intermediate:  Have been kayaking a few times before, maybe taken a lesson or two.  Possbily have lots of canoeing experience.  Able to paddle 15km a day and have previous wilderness camping experience.

Intermediate: Have been kayaking numerous times and have done an overnight kayak trip.  Able to paddle 20km a day, have previous multi-day wilderness camping experience.

Intermediate/Advanced: Sufficient with a self-rescue, are able to rescue others, can launch and land in small surf conditions.
